Joe De Paul is internationally renowned as a director, writer, actor, clown, and teacher.  His unique physical comedy has brought him critical acclaim from the press, producers, theatres, circuses, and cabarets in Europe, the United States, and Canada.

He is a veteran of numerous Cirque du Soleil productions, including his debut as a clown in the North American tour of Dralion, and its Emmy award-winning film version, as well as his performances in “O” and Volta.  He also performed in a dozen of Teatro Zinzanni productions in Seattle, Chicago, and San Francisco, and for circuses, and cabarets in Europe including Salto Natale (Switzerland), Witzigmann Palazzo (Germany), and Cirque Zanzibar (France).  Joe has toured Europe from Spain to Finland with Los Galindos street circus, and performed in the mid-time show of the Berlin 2016 World Cup of Soccer. He also hosted the Förder Preis, and the Zurich Cultural Awards Ceremony .  He was invited as star clown for the Kulture Fabrik (Luxembourg), and for the Festival d’humour d’Antibes (France).

Joe’s career has scaled numerous heights, in 2013 he received the META for best actor for his performance as Yves in the play Head à Tête presented by Geordie Productions at Centaur Theatre.  He appeared in over 20 film and television events, and has authored and performed two full-length clown productions, Placebo, and Mr.P.P. & Joe that toured cities in Canada, France, and Spain.  Amongst others, he has written, and directed comedy for Cirque du Soleil’s , and Amaluna, and for six Teatro Zinzanni productions, recently Love, Chaos, and Dinner was presented in Chicago.   In addition to his stage activities, he teaches Clown for Actors at Concordia University (Montréal), and has taught at the Geneva Circus School, FRACO clown school (France); he also leads workshops for professional artists.
